When Marcel Botton created Nomen in 1981, he was simply transforming his passion for words into a full-time job. Marcel acts as naming and strategy advisor on Nomen projects, lending his insight as an economist and marketing specialist. Combining creative techniques with computer processing, Marcel has developed many world-class brand names such as Skyteam, Vinci and Wanadoo. A well-known speaker in France and abroad, Marcel is also the author of numerous works, including Créer et protéger ses marques (co-author), Le nom de marque (co-author, published by McGraw Hill), La créativité Appliquée (published by Editions d’Organisation) and Le Oui et le Nom, Traité de Linguistique Normande (co-author with Anne Buridan).
Sophie Gay is Managing Director of Nomen France, after 8 years as a Key Account Manager and Vice-Director. Her team of 10 people includes creative, semiologists and linguists. Sophie manages brand projects in all sectors and markets (including France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Morocco), creating successes such as Velib’, Bleu Ciel, Kwixo or Idylle de Guerlain. Before joining Nomen, Sophie Gay worked in marketing and Press Relations agencies. She studied Philosophy and Literature Sciences, and graduated at La Sorbonne with a Masters in Communication.
Since 1996, Sybille has been the managing director of Nomen Germany. Initially a project manager for Nomen, Sybille was involved in establishing Nomen’s German office. Her keen eye for delivering on market expectations, educational experience and creative prowess make her exceptionally good at developing compelling brand names. Sybille is fluent in German, English, French and Italian. While she graduated in economics and literature, Sybille also specialised in linguistics and marketing during her studies at the University of Gießen and during internships in Rome and Grenoble.
A bilingual, bicultural branding consultant, Chigusa Shimada brings a wealth of expertise to her role at Nomen. Her experience includes marketing, naming and branding work for various leading companies in Europe and Asia, including NTT DoCoMo, Renault, Dentsu, InfoCom Research and Capcom. Chigusa has also worked in the luxury goods and fashion industry. She graduated from the Law Department of Chuo University, Tokyo.
